Engineering Manager

Payme, a leading company in Uzbekistan's fintech industry, attracts over 11,6 million users with its convenient and efficient payment solutions. Since its establishment in 2012 and the launch of its main product – a mobile application in 2016, Payme continues to streamline financial transactions for its clients. In April 2019, TBC acquired a 51% stake in Payme for $5.5 million, valuing the company at $10.8 million. In May 2023, TBC Group Uzbekistan purchased the remaining 49% of Payme's shares, valued at $113.6 million, affirming its leadership in the region's fintech industry.

We are looking for talented individuals with Engineering manager experience to join our team.

As an Engineering Manager at Payme, you are a pivotal leader responsible for fostering high-performing teams that build our platform's intelligence and operational backbone. Your primary focus is on people and systems leadership, cultivating the health, growth, and impact of your teams. You will coach tech leads, set clear standards, and accelerate your teams' delivery capabilities through modern technical practices. You'll drive org-wide process improvements, lead cross-team initiatives, and ensure high-impact projects are delivered with excellence.

What You'll Do

• Lead, Coach, and Mentor: Develop your engineers through clear feedback, effective coaching, and career development planning. Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and psychological safety.
• Drive Strategic Outcomes: Take ownership of strategic initiatives, translating business goals into clear Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Ensure efficient delivery through roadmap planning and cross-functional alignment.
• Technical Leadership & Vision: Partner with architects and product leads to define a clear technical strategy. Guide teams in making sound architectural decisions and navigating technical trade-offs.
• Optimize for Fast Flow: Evolve your teams' agile processes to improve delivery speed and reliability. Minimize cognitive load and remove impediments to ensure a sustainable pace and a fast flow of work.
• Raise the Engineering Bar: Champion high standards for quality, testing, and operability. Empower your teams with a "You Build It, You Run It" mindset of full ownership.
• Collaborate and Communicate: Act as the primary technical contact for your domain, clearly communicating project status, risks, and strategy to all stakeholders.
• Build High-Performing Teams: Actively attract, hire, and retain top talent. Thoughtfully design team structures to optimize for collaboration and fast delivery.

What We're Looking For

• Proven Leadership: 5+ years in an engineering management role with a track record of leading multiple software engineering teams.
• Strong Technical Foundation: 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, with deep knowledge of system design, distributed architectures, and modern technologies.
• Experience with at least with one of these programming languages: .Net or PHP.
• Outcome-Driven Delivery: Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional projects from inception to impact, consistently driving key business outcomes.
• A Passion for People: A true passion for developing engineers and leaders. You excel at coaching, performance management, and scaling people within a growing organization.
• Strategic Mindset: The ability to translate ambitious business goals into an actionable technical roadmap and measurable objectives (OKRs).
• Excellent Communicator: The ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
