The World Bank Group is a global leader in development, with a large portfolio of projects focused on reducing poverty and improving living standards in developing countries.

As an Energy Sector Research Analyst at the World Bank, you will be part of a dynamic team working to promote sustainable energy solutions and energy efficiency in Uzbekistan.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to data collection, research and analytical work on the Uzbekistan energy sector;
  • Prepare reports and presentations on sustainable energy and energy efficiency in key sectors;
  • Draft briefs and reports on energy sector development in Uzbekistan;
  • Research new energy and efficiency activities and their impact on the energy economy;
  • Participate in field visits and contribute to the preparation of visit reports;

This position is sponsored by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) through the 'Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group' programme.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly living allowance and have travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs covered.

To be eligible for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Swiss national;
  • Hold a Master's degree;
  • Have ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (minimum 3 months - maximum 24 months);
  • Be no older than 28 years old at the date of application;
  • Have excellent command of English and two official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
  • Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector;
  • For this position, a Master's degree in energy, engineering, economics or other related fields is required, along with demonstrated interest and/or experience in research, data analysis, or any other position with a focus on international benchmarking, cost-benefit analysis, and analysis of large amounts of data.
