The World Bank has a large energy sector portfolio in Uzbekistan, including investment projects in power transmission and distribution, district heating, and energy efficiency and several Analytical and Advisory Activities on sustainable energy solutions and energy efficiency.
As Energy Sector Research Analyst you support the World Bank as follows:

Contribute to data collection, research and analytical work on the Uzbekistan energy sector;

Prepare reports and presentations on sustainable energy and energy efficiency in key sectors;

Contribute to drafting briefs, and reports on energy sector development in Uzbekistan;
-
Research new energy and efficiency activities and their impact on the energy economy;
-
Join field visits and participate in the preparation of visit reports;
-
Etc.
Part of the Talent programme "Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group", this position is sponsored by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid. For the programme:
- Swiss nationality;
- Master's degree;
- Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months - max. 24 months);
- Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
- Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
- Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector.
- Driving license for PHRD financed positions.
For this position:
- Master's degree in energy, engineering, economics or other related fields;
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in research, data analysis, or any other position with a focus on international benchmarking, cost-benefit analysis, and analysis of large amounts of data;
- Experience in the Energy sector, green energy solutions, development of green energy markets, private sector participation in public energy efficient technologies
- Strong data analysis, and experience analyzing data in Microsoft Office products and studying/working on energy sector-related topics;
- Fluent in English, working knowledge in Russian is an asset.

First round of interviews carried out by cinfo: between 13 May and 22 May 2025
Final selection: made by the host organisation based on cinfo's recommendation and a second interview with them. Selected candidates will be informed towards the end of June 2025.
Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory predeparture training in August.
Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the mandatory training. The final departure date will be discussed after the selection and depends on several factors.
