Company Overview

The World Bank has a large energy sector portfolio in Uzbekistan, including investment projects in power transmission and distribution, district heating, and energy efficiency, as well as several Analytical and Advisory Activities on sustainable energy solutions and energy efficiency.

This position supports the World Bank by contributing to data collection, research, and analytical work on the Uzbekistan energy sector.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to data collection, research, and analytical work on the Uzbekistan energy sector.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on sustainable energy and energy efficiency in key sectors.
  • Contribute to drafting briefs and reports on energy sector development in Uzbekistan.
  • Research new energy and efficiency activities and their impact on the energy economy.
  • Join field visits and participate in the preparation of visit reports.

This position is part of the Talent programme "Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group" and is sponsored by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation, and UN health insurance costs are covered.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in energy, engineering, economics, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in research, data analysis, or any other position with a focus on international benchmarking, cost-benefit analysis, and analysis of large amounts of data.
  • Experience in the Energy sector, green energy solutions, development of green energy markets, private sector participation in public energy efficient technologies.
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience analyzing data in Microsoft Office products, as well as studying/working on energy sector-related topics.
  • Fluent in English, working knowledge in Russian is an asset.
