Role Overview

The Principal Investment Officer will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise to FIG's business in Central Asia, serving as the focal point to coordinate FIG's investment program delivery in the region.

This role requires significant travel and collaboration with the regional FIG team and management to drive and shape FIG's financial inclusion strategy, operations, and business growth in the CA sub-region.

The ideal candidate should have considerable hands-on experience in private sector investment in the Financial Institutions space at senior levels in several countries, including LICs, IDA/FCS, and those transitioning from centrally controlled to market-oriented ones.

The selected candidate should also possess demonstrated expertise in credit and risk management, corporate governance, institutional and digital transformation, and responsible finance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing overall leadership and expertise to FIG's business in Central Asia.
  • Serving as the focal point to coordinate FIG's investment program delivery in the region.
  • Driving and shaping FIG's financial inclusion strategy, operations, and business growth in the CA sub-region.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business and/or Finance; Economics, International Development, International Banking.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with a development finance institution (DFI), a commercial and investment bank or a private equity firm.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in financial institutions, climate, gender and digital finance, credit and risk management, corporate governance, responsible finance, related international finance and development issues.
  • Ability to represent IFC externally and develop and manage relationships with clients, government, media, donors, and other stakeholders.
